05/27/16: Firm Obtains Treble Damages and Attorney's Fees for David Ortiz in Superior Court Action

Judge Maynard Kirpalani of the Middlesex (MA) Superior Court entered judgment of $313,800 plus attorney's fees and costs in favor of G&R client David Ortiz, against Defendant Randy Hamida, resulting from Hamida's misrepresentation of the value of jewelry sold to the slugger in 2010.  The Court trebled base damages of $104,600 under both M.G.L. c. 231, Sec. 85J, which provides for multiple damages for fraud, as well as under M.G.L. c. 93A, for Hamida's unfair and deceptive trade practices.

G&R attorney Matthew Ginsburg, along with co-counsel Jonathan Davidoff of Davidoff Law Firm, based in New York and Miami, represented Mr. Ortiz.
